National Indigenous Peoples' Day: Organizations to Know and Support
June is Indigenous History Month, where people across Canada are invited to actively reflect on the unique mosaic of cultures and stories that serve as the foundation for Indigenous communities - First Nations, Inuit, and Metis Peoples. While this is an integral moment-in-time, we recognize the important work of organizations across Canada that are dedicated to Indigenous support and education throughout the year.
As we honour National Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re offering space on our platform to amplify some of the organizations that are driving Indigenous-led initiatives forward across Canada. Learn more about each organization by visiting their websites below.
Future Ancestors Services Inc.
Future Ancestors is an organization that consists of an intergenerational team of Black, Indigenous, racialized, Queer, disabled, and Francophone professionals and advisors. It offers speaking, training, research and consulting services, and influencer and interview services to diverse clients, along with mobilizing donation dollars for a range of community initiatives.
Native Women’s Association of Canada
Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) is a national Indigenous organization focused on supporting Indigenous women, girls and gender-diverse people in Canada. NWAC brings together Indigenous women’s organizations across the country to engage in national and international advocacy to drive legislative and policy reforms that promote equality, preserve Indigenous culture and advance the well-being of Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse people, including LGBTQ+ people.
Indspire is a national Indigenous organization that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people for the long-term benefit of these individuals, their families and communities, and Canada. It provides financial support, programming and resources with the goal of increasing graduation rates for Indigenous students.
The Indigenous Arts Collective of Canada (IACC) is an Indigenous, women-led organization taking inspiration from the Haudenosaunee Seventh Generation Principle. IACC is dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of endangered Indigenous art forms and enriching lives through Indigenous arts and culture by bringing together Indigenous artists, facilitating workshops and other educational opportunities.
First Nations Information Governance Centre
The First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC) is an independent, apolitical, and technical non-profit organization that conducts data-gathering initiatives with the goal of building data and statistical capacities at national, regional and community levels. In addition to survey development, the organization oversees data collection on First Nations reserves and in northern communities, performs research, engages in knowledge translation and dissemination activities, offers education and training, and promotes the advancement of the First Nations principles of Ownership Control Access and Possession (OCAP®).

Agnostic’s offices at 33 Bloor Street is on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples, and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
