By Nada Elnaiem, Senior Account Executive
As Sudan continues to face the effects of ongoing conflict, economic shocks and political unrest, conflict broke out between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces earlier this month, causing widespread displacement and exacerbating humanitarian needs throughout the country.
In times of such conflict and suffering, showing up is what matters, but it can be difficult to know exactly how your support can make a difference. We have pulled together a list of resources and action items you can take to support those affected by the conflict. Read more below:
Amplify Sudanese and credible voices.
Below are a list of Sudanese and credible voices sharing resources and support from on the ground and abroad. Follow them and learn more about the crisis below:
Ask government officials to take action and encourage your friends to do the same.
Your voice is powerful. Send a note to Justin Trudeau, Mélanie Joly (Minister of Foreign Affairs) and your local MP and ask them to take action. You can find an email template here that can be sent to these government officials. Take it one step further and encourage others to do the same.
Donate to fundraisers supporting civilians on the ground, here are a few:
Sudan Civil War Emergency Fund (found under the ‘campaigns’ section on the homepage)
Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins sans frontières - they do not have a direct donation page for the current crisis in Sudan, however they are doing work on the ground to support.
