March 2021 - Digital Time Capsule

It’s hard to believe that the month that provided us with the best memes (looking at you, boat in the Suez Canal), and hot-button interviews (has anyone watched that Oprah interview?!) is already over.

We’ve rounded up ALLLL of the wild stories that we’ve seen in March 2021 into this month’s Digital Time Capsule below!

Cinnamon Toast Chaos

One of the most talked-about scandals this month was none other than the cinnamon coated shrimp tails also referred to as ‘accumulated sugar’ by General Mills cereal brand, Cinnamon Toast Crunch. We followed along watching what could have been an amicable solution quickly turn into a big box brand gaslighting one of its customers (who by the way is married to the iconic Topanga from Boy Meets World). If the story couldn’t get any more unsettling, allegations from ex-partners and co-workers came out about the customer making us all wonder whether this was staged or not.
As we wait to see how this all turns out, we’ll be making this Cinnamon Toast Crustacean recipe. Don’t you just love the internet? Turning one man’s horrifying experience into another person’s weeknight dinner plans.
Evergreen content

The Ever Given, the ship that was stuck (and has since been freed) from the Suez Canal, made big news this month and even bigger memes for us. Yet again, the internet serving up entertainment as a result of a not-so-funny situation. For a week, the ship was stuck in one of the world’s most vital maritime routes, costing the world billions of dollars. What freed the ship? None other than the moon and water - talk about Mother Nature being a gift.

The interview that everyone tuned into

Oprah's explosive interview with Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, and her husband, Prince Harry, was nothing short of newsworthy. As the first public interview since stepping back from senior roles in the British royal family, the couple described what they went through under an image-obsessed Buckingham Palace. If you haven’t yet watched it, it’s available to stream on Global TV.

The Royals of Reality TV take off the crown
Moving on from the British Royal family, we turn to the Kardashians, the Royal family of reality TV. After 14 years and 19 seasons, the Kardashian clan announced the newest season would be the final one. Only two episodes in and we’re already starting to see a glimpse of what relationship drama may unravel between Khloe and Tristan, Scott, Sofia and Kourtney and of course the most spoken about, Kim and Kanye. To follow along with the drama, catch the newest episode every Friday on hayu

March Madness (seriously, get mad)

March Madness really did live up to its name this year. The NCAA was under fire this month after a video went viral showing off differences between the mens and womens training facilities, proving that there's still so much work to be done to achieve true gender equality in professional sports. You can catch the video here

Cisco Live!
Cisco Live! kicked off on March 30, seeing over 100,000 customers from over 200 countries and territories around the world in attendance. Cisco is turning up the excitement, the inspiration and the fun for attendees this year with performances by Keith Urban, the Killers and Brittany Howard, and celebrity appearances from Bill Nye, Billie Jean King and Serena Williams. The theme “Turn IT Up,” celebrates customers and partners as they continue to be the IT heroes of their organizations. Check out the full lineup and announcements here.
